Capturing and sharing stories has never been easier

This January, the Trojman Corporation hosted a Lunch & Learn, bringing together friends and librarians for an hour of good food, great conversation, and a fireside chat with 2019 Giller Prize winner and 2024 Massey Lecturer, Ian Williams. To capture the experience and reflections of those in attendance, Trojman used TheirStory, an innovative oral history platform that makes it easy to collect and preserve voices and perspectives. The result? A rich collection of insights and memories—see below!

A few easy steps:

  • We started by organizing our Lunch & Learn, inviting guests, and ensuring a memorable experience. Using Calendly, we collected email addresses and set up automatic reminders to keep attendees informed.

  • After the event, we created a new project in TheirStory and used its asynchronous interview feature to pre-set two prompts for video reflections. We also leveraged TheirStory's consent template to ensure guests understood and agreed to the intended use of their recordings.

  • We sent out a unique TheirStory interview link to attendees, allowing them to record their reflections at their convenience. This made it easy for participants to contribute on their own time.

  • As reflections came in, we reviewed the videos and transcripts. TheirStory automatically generates transcripts, metadata and indexing.

  • Finally, we curated the reflections into a visually engaging TheirStory gallery and shared them, ensuring these valuable insights could be enjoyed by a wider audience.
