    You tell us!

  • I'm an existing subscriber of dèsLibris or the Canadian Electronic Library. What actions do I need to take now?

No action is required from you. All existing platforms, invoicing, MARC records, usage statistics and other services will remain the same until December 31st, 2021.

  • What will happen to my dèsLibris or my Canadian Electronic Library service in the future?

During the fall, we will launch a new version of the Canadian Electronic Library. We’re working with select customers to ensure that the new platform delivers an excellent user experience, and that the associated permissions, MARC record redirects, COUNTER compliant usage statistics, and other aspects function properly. We will be adding new features and new content. We encourage customers to try the system at this time and provide feedback.

The migration to a new platform will commence in 2022. Customers can choose when they would like to migrate.

We plan to sunset the existing dèsLibris platform in May 2022, at the end of the academic year.

  • Will my MARC records still work?

Yes, we plan to redirect URLs so that they need not be changed.

  • What products and services will you offer in future?

We’re excited to work with you to develop new offerings for Canada. We plan to add significantly more Canadian policy materials and license additional content, including primary-source collections. Our platform makes it easy for users and librarians to upload content, and we look forward to working with you to make use of that feature.

We will be simplifying the range of products to two landmark subscriptions and perpetual rights collections:

The Canadian Electronic Library Complete Collection: This will include 27,000 e-books and, 60,000+ policy documents.

Policy Commons; this will be a definitive collection of policy materials from around the world, including Canada.

Those who subscribe to both collections will receive a discount.

We will continue to offer perpetual rights for select collections, and we plan to offer new collections with perpetual rights as we license content.

We will no longer offer individual titles for sale.

  • I’m a publisher. What does this mean for me?

Until December 31st, 2021 Gibson Publishing Connections will continue to collect revenues, invoice customers, and pay royalties. Afterward, all obligations will be passed on to Coherent Digital and Trojman Corporation.

For now, you need take no action. You’ll continue to receive royalties and royalty reports. We will be in touch with you to answer questions.

Over time, we may ask you to follow a new workflow to give us new titles.
