Landmark new resource for Canadian Government information launches today

Over 500 Canadian Government organizations searchable on a single platform

[Toronto, July 18th, 2023] Trojman Corporation and Coherent Digital today announced the launch of Canada Commons: Government, a groundbreaking new database that brings together federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal reports of research value, along with literature from major political parties. This innovative initiative offers researchers and citizens access to a vast array of information in a single, user-friendly site, complete with advanced search tools.

With an initial index of over half a million publications from 500+ organizations, Canada Commons: Government is poised to reach 1 million publications by the end of 2023. This comprehensive database empowers researchers to discover valuable information and data on critical Canadian topics, including healthcare, climate, education, and the first peoples. It consolidates diverse sources, enabling users to conduct seamless searches across a wide range of subjects.

Salvy Trojman, Managing Director of Trojman Corporation, expressed the motivation behind this development, stating, "We listened to librarians' requests for broader and more current coverage of smaller agencies involved in healthcare, indigenous affairs, and other important areas. We’ve responded by indexing numerous smaller and hard-to-find organizations and integrating advanced search tools to enhance the research experience." Trojman extends gratitude to the following organizations for their contributions to the development of Canada Commons: Government and for embracing it as early adopters:

Redeemer University
University of Ontario Institute of Technology
Sault College
Selkirk College
University of Regina
University of Calgary
University of the Fraser Valley
University of Victoria

Alberta Legislature Library
Champlain Regional College
Cape Breton University
Collège Militaire Royal de St. Jean
MacEwan University
Legislative Library of British Columbia
Northwestern Polytechnic
Memorial University of Newfoundland

Canada Commons: Government is available as an add-on module on the Canada Commons platform, which is used by more than 200 libraries across Canada. It’s fully cross-searchable with Canadian ebooks, and other resources.  Trials are available.
